ANOUNCEMENTS FOR SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2008
This coming Saturday, September 20th there will be a gathering of Service Readers at the home of Susan Mills from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. If you are a Service Reader we request that you please do come to this event.
Please note that we have a major change of plans for our Sunday services next Sunday, September 21st. Mr. Gene Bardwell was scheduled to lead these services but instead, he will come to visit us and lead our services on the second Sunday next month, October 12th. We also plan to cancel the potluck lunch that was scheduled for next Sunday because we will hold two lunches with monastics on the following week, as explained below.
We have great news that the Center Department has approved Mr. Bardwell’s coming to our Center to lead services once per month rather than once every two months. This new schedule will begin with his visit in October.
We are pleased to announce that two Monks from the Center Department, Brother Balananda (formerly Brahmachari Justin) and Brahmachari Rich, will visit our Center on the final weekend of the month, September 26th through 28th. They will lead the Commemoration of the Mahasamadhi of Lahiri Mahasaya on Friday. They will also hold services on Saturday, September 27th. These services will begin with energization exercises in our upstairs room at 10:00 a.m. followed by a mediation service that will last until noon. In the afternoon there will be a pizza lunch and christenings of five children of SRF devotees. The monks will also lead our Sunday services on the 28th, which will be followed by a potluck lunch and Satsanga. This visit is an extraordinary spiritual opportunity for all of us.
Our Center will hold two commemorative services during the last week of September. The first, as mentioned before, will be Lahiri Mahasaya’s Mahasamadhi, a master yogi’s final conscious exit from the body, on Friday, September 26th. We will celebrate Lahiri Mahasaya’s birthday on Tuesday, September 30th. Both services will begin at 8:00 pm. All who understand the Guru-disciple relationship and are able to participate in these services with reverence and devotion are welcome. Please bring a flower and a donation in a sealed envelope. Extra flowers and envelopes will be available on the credenza in the lobby.
